Written by admin on March 5th, 2010I had a fantastic session last weekend with Lisa and Chris who are expecting there first child in about a month.
It’s going to be a boy but they haven’t decided on a name yet and told me it may come down to the wire on a decision .
This session was so much fun they were both truly excited to be recording this time in there lives and clearly love each other a great deal and I think it shows in the pictures .
The funniest part was when I asked Lisa if she wanted some shots with the little blue baby shoes I have as props and she said maybe and Chris chimed in and said “That means YES”
So here are a few shots from the session.

Model shoot with Zoya
Written by admin on October 21st, 2009I met Zoya through Xanka form the maternity shoot I posted previously.
Zoya I also from Russia .
We did this shoot in her home in Bradenton because she has two young children to keep up with while he husband was away on business.
I enjoyed getting out of the studio and the lighting challenges that presents .
I tried several lighting setups ffom a single off camera speedlight fired remotely by the Nikon CLS system to a studio strobe setup and some good old window light.

Maternity Session with Moniqua
Written by admin on October 9th, 2009Well this was about two weeks ago now.
We took a week off to visit friends in Mobile so I had not had a chance to work on these images.
This was one of those sessions ware I thought it would go great or really bad no in between.
Moniqua wanted some implied nude images to go with the belly cast that she was planning to do.
We’ll to say the least I was a bit nervous and I did not that make my subject any more uncomfortable than I imagined she would be being nude in front of some one she had never met before.
Not to mention in talking to Moniquia before the session I learned she had gained 60 lbs during he pregnancy so posing would be an issue.
Things turned out great and all my wory was for not.
Moniqua was so calm and genuinely happy to be documenting this stage in her life that she calmed me down!
I think we got some excellent images.
If your interested in booking a session just drop me a note to don@donsmithpics.com
I’ve added a video at the bottom of the post in case you want to do a belly cast of your own.

Beach Maternity shoot with Xanka
Written by admin on September 10th, 2009Well I’ve been a little lazy on the blogging the last couple of weeks I’ve been staying plenty occupied with shoots and I figured I better start sharing.
I did a beach maternity shoot this week with Xanka who moved to Sarasota from Belarus Russia. She is a model and art teacher and already has two lovely girls.
The shoot was on Long boat Key just south of Coquina beach.
It really was a great day light breeze and blue sky’s hard to ask for anything more.
If your interested in booking a photo shoot just send me an email

Tianna’s Maternity Session
Written by admin on August 22nd, 2009Tianna wanted her maternity images to be glamorous so she suggested that we do a session similar to the one Christina Aguilera did for Marie Clare magazine in January 2008.
I thought it was a great idea and I hope you agree.
We used a very basic HI Key set up for all the images .

Model Portfolio Development Session
Written by donsmith0526 on August 11th, 2009I had a great time shooting last Sunday with Lisa an aspiring model from Tampa who contacted me about doing some glamor images for her portfolio.
I’ve done a couple of photo shoots with Lisa before for some of my personal projects so it was very easy to get in the grove and get some good images.
I had a good time trying out several lighting arrangement’s plus I don’t think Lisa can take a bad picture she really dose make me look good.
You can check out more of Lisa’s modeling work on her Model Mayhem Profile.
